Press Release Summary = Britons are being stretched to their financial limits by a series of \'unexpected\' bills, it has been revealed.
Press Release Body = According to a survey conducted by Abbey Savings, four in five people in England, Scotland and Wales are being confronted with bills they have not budgeted for every year, at an average cost of £1,375 each.
Home repairs makes up the biggest single outlay - blowing a £19.2 billion collective hole in Britons\' pockets.
\"You never know what life is going to throw at you,\" commented Reza Attar-Zadeh, head of savings at Abbey.
\"However, you can prepare for the unexpected through building up a \'buffer savings fund\' to help deal with these shock events. Most experts recommend that you build up a fund of at least three months salary in an instant access cash account.\"
However, those without a \'buffer savings fund\' could instead consider selling their homes to National Homebuyers and then subsequently renting them back as a way as financing unexpected costs - especially as Abbey found that 50 per cent of Britons are so strapped for cash that they are forced to finance such outlays using credit cards or overdraft facilities.
National Homebuyers director Julian King says: \"When it comes to needing quick access to cash, because you have exhausted all other routes, selling on the open market does not necessarily provide the quick sale you may require.
\"National Homebuyers purchases many properties every week from vendors in this situation and we expect this number to increase.\"
